Our Instruments
  1. Interparty DialogueCMD works to provide a platform for interparty dialogue in political affairs among political parties. Inter-party dialogue is instrumental to democratic consolidation since it facilitates the development of stronger and more effective parties and a conducive environment for multiparty. CMD-M ensures regular board meetings where political parties are able to interact and exchange ideas and promote unity. Interparty dialogue platforms are also done through multiparty leadership trainings and conflict management trainings amongst others.

  2. Political RallyOne of the gaps existing in Political parties in Malawi is the lack of well-articulated ideologies which are supposed to act as a framework of what the parties stand for. It is against this background that CMD works to assess the feasibility of political party ideologies in the country and to assist them in developing and articulating their party ideologies which specify acceptable means of attaining social, economic and political change. This approach leads to the strengthening of institutional capacity of political parties and thereby ensuring that the needs of the Malawian people are met.

  3. Cross Party InitiativeAmong many achievements, CMD-Malawi has made concerted effort to review and strengthen the current Political Party Registration and Regulation Act (PPRRA) as a way of policy analysis support. In its current Cross-party Local Governance Initiative supported by Tilitonse Fund, CMD is working to strengthen the legal and policy framework of local governance to ensure that it promotes inclusivity, active participation, transparency and accountability among key actors.  This included the review and amendment of the Local Government Act enacted in 1998 to ensure successful operations of local governments.
